Community-led Public Meeting on the Windmill and Littlehampton Swimming & Sports Centre
On Wednesday 13th March, 11:30 AM, for an hour, or so
In the Millennium Chamber, Church Road, Littlehampton
With Coffee and Tea available
This is the 3rd Community-led Public Meeting organised jointly by the East Beach Residents Association (EBRA) and Littlehampton Civic Society on behalf of a forum of user groups and local interests.
All 56 Arun District Councillors will meet one week later (Wed 20th March) to take their final decision on the Leisure Strategy that seals the fate of our Windmill and Leisure Centre. Council’s vote will be based on the 7-person ADC Cabinet vote on 11 Feb 2013.
Please look around this website for reports on previous Public Meetings, and the Cabinet vote that overturned recommendations form the Council’s Leisure Committee more in-line with the public view.
The purpose of the Public Meeting Wed 13th March is to:
§ Explain clearly where things stand after the Cabinet’s vote, Councils response to the 5000 + signature Petition on the Windmill, and latest on the Windmill Cinema Club.
§ Discuss ways to encourage the full Council to take account of the unanimous votes of our locally elected Town and Parish Councils when they vote on the 20th of March, and otherwise, reflect the overwhelming public view from the Council’s own Public Consultations.
§ Seek consensus on collective actions the community might take in the short- and longer-term to better shape leisure and entertainment provision in our area, and more pro-actively engage with Council on how things are implemented.
We hope to see you Wed 11 March. Our apologies to those who cannot make the noon meeting, as Evening vs Day-time is always a trade-off.
